Background Information

 

Aquakids was started at the Hextable pool in November 1994 with one teacher and four classes over a two hour period. Lorna started the school partly because she was unable to find lessons that catered for her three-year-old who could swim. So on finding pool space and being a qualified PE teacher decided to do it herself. 

The initial aims, which still apply today are,

1. To have the teacher in the water with the swimmers,  the beginner classes also have a qualified assistant teacher working alongside the teacher.

2. Small class sizes

3. Caring environment offering a personal service i.e. knowing and being able to account for an individuals progress. Communication with parents being a priority.

4. Teaching in all water depths so even beginners can experience deep water from the start.

5. To cater for all ages and all abilities.

Word soon spread and the lessons have now expanded to incorporate three venues with over ten reliable and dedicated teachers. The teachers are all ASA/STA and RLSS qualified, with years of experience and a commitment to providing continuity and quality lessons. Individual teachers are personally insured, as is the swim school.
